Our program, 'inTune with PDA™', guides families through 6 modules, delivered online, exploring PDA family life from a fresh perspective. inTune with PDA is 100% aligned with radical acceptance and is 100% designed with current research in mind; but predominantly lived experience from a PDA perspective. It takes families on a journey of exploring parenting, family and lifestyle approaches and tools that help to forge peaceful pathways for each member of the family individually; allowing the family unit to co-regulate as a whole.

Hello! I'm Kristy. I'm an educator, a parent, a support specialist and a PDA Autistic (and ADHDer).

I know what it is to be misunderstood, to have our children misunderstood, to be under copious amounts of pressure to get our parenting right when all of the recommended parenting approaches, supports and accommodations for autistic people just aren't working. I developed "inTune with PDA" for individuals, families and professionals supporting our loved ones with an autistic profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance from my own lived experience of being a disengaged youth all the way through to parenting my own children and supporting hundreds of families from all over the world. Click play below so I can tell you a little more about myself and how passionate I am about positive neurodivergent identity and family centred practice.

Kristy Forbes is an Australian based autism & neurodiversity support specialist

with experience working with clients from all over the world.

This includes neurodivergent people and their families, and professionals who wish to support them, such as Educators, Psychologists, Paediatricians, allied health professionals, support workers and integration aides.

Her work is informed by her extensive professional experience as an educator (Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary teaching), as an integration aide to children with social, emotional and behavioural challenges, and as a childhood behavioural and family specialist.

Her most valuable insights, however, come from lived experience.

Kristy is autistic herself, and diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

"The contents were clear and simple and really helped me clarify, and may help me rid myself of some of the enormous mum guilt from so many years of doing it all wrong. Thank you for your knowledge and teachings. I saw your talk about forgiving yourself which was also emotional and awesome."

"The biggest impact for me was the understanding or lens of looking at the neurobiology and behaviours as a way of ‘re-leveling’; that dynamic imbalance. Wow! I’ve learnt over the years to be in collaboration with my kids and husband and learn from them (be curious to their experience etc), but this took it to a whole new level. To say this has been invaluable is an understatement! I can’t wait to absorb anything and everything you have."

"What stood out for me was firstly how much standard info professionals give parents of diagnosed kids can be contradictory to their actual needs/personality etc. Secondly how invaluable and crucial it is to gain this information and advice from those who are living it!"

"Powerful, freeing and incredibly helpful on so many levels and it's given me the confidence to know that my instinctive sense of tutoring my ND students is the way to go."

“You have helped give me the courage to change my teaching and now I want it to spread through my organization! I have slowly been herding in like-minded souls and am going to ask that my organization look at the strategic plan and see where it acknowledges/embraces neurodiversity and neurodivergence– what does it mean going forward – how do we incorporate all the current research in neuroscience and ensure that we are listening to and heeding the voices of those we supposedly serve and so I can proudly enter my office!”

“With your expertise I now understand myself, my eldest and we have a loving relationship for the first time in 15 years!! We couldn’t even be in the same room together and now we talk on the phone every day and have hugs and “I love yous”.”
